The Last Hurrah for Crinkly - Euro tour (9/7-?) Day 23 Manning the fort in Kinsale (9/29)

Have breakfast and then drive over to Kinsale where we check out a farmers market so I can get a juice and then I walk the path to the fort from there. Path was nice and eventually get to Charles' fort which had some awesome points of view of the surrounding area but smelled like cow shit; at first I thought it was me cause I kept smelling it throughout the fort and I was concerned, turns out it was the fields nearby and the wind would pick the smell up and deliver it to the fort area which was annoying.

Crinkly enjoying some nice weather on a lovely hike along the coast

Entryway into the harbor guarded by the 2 forts on each side

The way out to sea

Looking back on the quaint town of Kinsale

Crinkly met a kitty friend on our little hike

Viewing an old fort building window across the straight

This was someones back door from their house. Felt to me like jumanji :)

As I got further could get the other side and Kinsale in the same pic

Getting closer to the fort and can see the way I came and the whole town

Nice view of the Kinsale beach and the whole peninsula that hosts the James fort

Crinkly finally made it to the fort. Fun fact, because of Covid, the OPW (the agency that oversees the historical landmarks in Ireland, made entrance free to all which was awesome) This was one of many OPW places we visited on this trip.

Crinkly and Marion waiting for me to catch up, but I had to stop and enjoy this view out over the sea

The fort in all its mosaic glory

This fort had many great things; tons of bastions for great overlooks, flags flying in the windy air, and stone construction.... yippee!

Like I said if you dont like stone, flags, and/or views, turn away now.

Crinkly trying his best not to be blown away while enjoying some lovely views of the outer fort wall

Ship heading out to sea between some old fort chimneys

Another nice pic of some little sail boats coming and going

Some of the coastal views from the Fort.

Some old Charles Fort cannon turrets with a lovely view

Crinkly exploring some of the internal buildings of the fort

View back on the James fort and Kinsale from the Charles fort

More of the internal structures of the fort.

You get some great skys up here

Boats playing in the harbor's safety

View back on the full fort out over the sea

Very advantageous view from up here

Another great view

Looking back on the town

Crinkly getting his beach time in

Went in but wound up not staying for a drink

Beautiful but private golf course. I imagine its a challenging course cause it was windy and on a small peninsula

Found the light house

Cool staircase in Kinsale

Crinkly posing with the stairs

Walking around old town Kinsale

Crinkly checking out some wild street art

So many colors... Crinkly likes

The gang is back together

Crinkly and his kitty friend

Drive over to the beach near the old head lighthouse and wal around for a little bit before heading up to the lighthouse through a really nice golf resort so my friend could surprise one of her friends. Shouldnt have shown up unannounced in covid times hahah. Drive back to Kinsale, walk around town a little bit before grabbing a beer from Hamlet which had great beer from Waterford. The town is incredibly quaint with lots and lots of colors, which I know is kinda redundant when talking about irish towns but this was just colors everywhere. Walk back to the car and head back into Cork to have dinner and then go grocery shopping before going back to the place for shower and sleep.
