Woke up early to beat the heat. Wasnt sure which instructions to follow, google or the parks website (google says it opens at 7, park site says dawn), so i aim to split the difference a bit and get there a little before 7 (woke at 545 and out by 615). Wasnt quite sure where to park so parked at one of the first sites which is one of the farthest from the start of the main trails. Walk a bit of the rim trail and eventually get to the start of the misery ridge trail and start my ascent; that hike is very appropriately named as its just straight up a very steep path.

Which beers to get at ale apothecary? |
Glad I started with it as it was the most grueling of the day and to take it down while it was still cool out was a great idea. Once I get to the top, continue on and begin the summit loop trail. While on it I get a little off course trying to find the overlook spot on the map as the trails up there arent the best well marked like further down below. Eventually regain my bearings back tracking and continue on my way. Start to get hotspots on my feet so stop and address that for a little bit and take a break. Walk along the river to get back to the starting point which is minimally up/down which helps the hotspots out. Eventually get back to the car, having spent 3-4 hours out sweating and walking around. Then as I head back, I stop in Redmond to check out Wild ride brewing. Beers are pretty decent and the food trucks are delicious; there were a couple different options. As I get back into town, head to Sparrow to grab some pastries as its a well regarded shop. Had the Ocean roll for immediate consumption (was so delicious like a giant cinnamon roll) and bought a chocolate roll for tomorrow morning. Go back to teh hostel to drop stuff off and then head over to the ale apothecary after doing some yoga. Their taproom is pretty cool and they have great sour beers. Go back to the hostel to put beers up and then head to D&D bar and grill downtown for an early dinner and some beers from the nice lil dive bar. After I finish up there, I head back to the place to shower and get ready for bed while doing a little reading.
