Xmas in Belgium/N. Germany trip day 12 - To Nuremberg for THE Xmas market (12/12/19)

Get up early as we have an early train to catch to Nuremberg. Wifi on the train is spotty but I manage to eventually get work done. Have a snack while we are cruising then when I look outside, I realize as we got up into the hills, there was snow on the ground.

Stone wall near the place we are staying

Walking around old town

Towering church

Enjoying the buildings around the heart of the old town

Time to do some exploring

People everywhere

Main cathedral above the market

penguin treats :)

Choir up on the hill

Zoomed in

Parade of lights

More lanterns and lights as everyone gets to the end of the parade route

Tower of the old fortification system on the outside of the town

Tons of options for drinks tonight

Get it served in a nice ceramic stein.

Dinner for the night though already has been getting destroyed

Enjoying a drink in the market

Walk to our room to drop the stuff off through the rain then make our way into town once we are settled. Go to THE xmas market that Germany is known for which definitely feels/looks different than all the markets of the north; this one is much bigger, more concentrated all together instead of tiny little ones spread out throughout the town, fewer alcohol stands with more toy/gift stands. Theres a beautiful church right next to the market which provides some beautiful pictures/views. Come to find out Atlanta, GA is a sister city of Nuremberg as there is an Atlanta stall in the market. Walk up to the castle where there is a light parade for kids to participate in with music accompanying it. Once the parade is over they start telling of the christmas stories in german for everyone nearby to hear. I forget which story it was (birth of jesus maybe?) but after a little bit of it, we leave the area and walk to the train where we take it to check out a local beer place for dinner and drinks. We enjoy our time there before walking our way back to the room for the night.
