Mexico trip day 1: Getting into Cancun (9/28/18)

Get in early and there are no lines getting through security so get right to the gate and hang out. Sit near the front of the plane so I can get my bag and make my way to the bus. However even thought we breeze through immigration, takes forever to get my bag from the check in (had a suit bag as a carry on for the wedding). Eventually get my bus ticket and make my way to the bus pick up area where I accidentally get on the earlier bus but they let me as not many people were on it.

Get to the bus station and walk to the hostel (Mezcal Hostel) around the giant round about. Turns out they didnt take a credit card so I had to go to the ATM. Didnt work and when I told the hostel lady, she said she knew and she never would have told me to go there (she circled it on the map she gave me earlier but now pointed me in a different direction). Walk to city hall, where the other ATM is, and theres a line so I walk around a bit before going to get in line for cash and getting the ATM to work. The area is still decorated from the Mexican Independence festivities with lights and banners everywhere. Nice walking promenade with shops and plenty of space; great area.

After a little bit of a walk, head back to the hostel to grab a beer (2 for 1 special) while watching some people try and play pong all too seriously. Head to bed and have a shower and get some sleep (though had some people come in the middle of the night which disrupted that sleep). Cool little hostel and my room had AC which was a nice surprise. In high times, I can see the hostel having a good scene.
