Berry's SEAJ trip Day 53: A series of unfortunate events (7/28/15)

After waking up and having breakfast, we made plans for the day. First stop is to catch noodles, which was pretty cool. Its a hillside restaurant that has cold water coming at you through a series of gutters. Once you order, a bunch of noodles start flowing your way and you are to try and catch them with your chopsticks as they come to the end (don't worry, there is a strainer underneath that'll catch it if you don't).
We stopped for a bathroom break and Berry met a long lost cousin. After a little chat, we went our separate ways.

Berry looking out at some secluded houses. Not much around these parts.

Highway we came up. Who wouldnt want to drive up that path?

Berry waiting for his turn to catch some noodles. Family is getting ready for it.

Berry is ready for his noodles to come down the rain gutter. Such a beautiful sight to enjoy while waiting for your noodles.

Berry found an older cousin, a party bear. Unfortunately we couldnt stay and let these 2 get into some trouble.

Berry saying bye to the noodle place. You can see the shoots through the door.
Next we go to a place where you catch fish by hand and then cook those fish for lunch. Unfortunately, they were closed that day due to holiday, so we take the easy walk up to the nearby waterfall that we cant get in as the viewing platform is up in the air, across from the water. The ramen place we go to is closed as well, so we hunt around for a bit for a place and eat some okonomiyaki and decide to go check out the beach. While we are eating a big storm comes in and ruins the beach plans. Since the day is going against us, we head to a mall so HG can play his Pokemon game with his cousin.
At the parking lot, there are little farms nestled along the road.

Berry is ready to begin the journey to the waterfall. Scary bridge or no.

Skinny trees lining the path, comprising a bulk of the trees around us. Berry had to be reminded repeatedly to stay on the path. That wild child.

Walking along the bridge. Looks like we are getting closer to finding the waterfall.

Berry found the gigantic waterfall. We made it!

Berry following Takao and HG down the stairway leaving the waterfall. Those are some steep steps.

View of the surrounding mountainous area.

The mascot of the okonomyaki place. Berry was making friends.

Making the Okonomyaki at our table. Was delicious.

On the way they take me to the southern tip of the land which is all reclaimed soil with tons of farming on it. The views into the ocean from the road are amazing and I wish I had taken some pictures as you have mountain islands off the coast giving the ocean more complexity. As we wonder around that area, they point out the beach where we were planning to go earlier which was a nice little beach with tons of shallow water to allow you to walk all over. Was gorgeous. We then get to the mall for a little bit to allow HG to have his fun. We then go to a ramen place near the train station for dinner. After dinner, we head to the station to catch the bullet train back to Kyoto We get up onto the platform and one goes roaring by as I am looking at the castle out the window; it is loud and fast and scared the crap out of me as I was not expecting that. Eventually we board ours and make our way back to Kyoto; the trains are nice and get you where you want to be quickly and fortunately the rail pass allows you to take many of them (this will come in handy later). We get back to the house and get HG to bed, then Takao and I sit down and hang out for a bit while figuring out the rest of my time there before bed.
View of the castle from the train platform (zoomed in). Even more beautiful at night all lit up.

Berry cant wait to get on these sleek marvels and zoom back to Kyoto.
